Innovate MTX-L Error message E8
< 1 min read
An error message that comes up more often with the MTX-L is E8. The notification can have two causes:
- Faulty sensor
If the gauge consistently reads E8 then there is a very good chance that the Bosch Wideband Sensor is faulty. If the sensor is installed incorrectly, it may fail very soon.
Solution
– If the sensor is broken, the only solution will be to replace it with a new one.
Preventing sensor failure
When installing the wideband sensor, it is essential to follow the manual. This contains the following important points about mounting the sensor;
– Place the sensor at least 60cm after the turbo or exhaust manifold (on a N/A engine)
– The sensor should be mounted at a maximum angle of 30 degrees. Angled or downward is an absolute NO-GO!
– Use the supplied thick welding bung - Overheat sensor
If the code E8 appears especially at full load then it could be that the sensor is getting too hot.
Solutions:
– Place the sensor further toward the end of the exhaust.
– Place a thicker weld bung in the exhaust, this will allow the sensor to get rid of its heat better.
