Description
Many Volvo 740 and 940 owners upgrade their ignition from a simple rotor and distributor to a wasted spark setup.
Usually these are mounted with a large plate on top of the valve cover. A cover plate that holds the camshaft plug in place should also be mounted on the back of the block near the camshaft (this is mainly applicable with large turbos and/or high crankcase pressure) To hold the camshaft plug in place, we have stainless steel cover plates in our assortment. Our ‘Volvo 740/940 Wasted Spark Ignition Coil Bracket”gives the ignition coil a nicer location on the back of the block and also keeps the camshaft plug in place. Two birds with one stone! Suitable for the following two types of ignition coils:
- ERA 880003 – OEM 030 905 106 – VW
- ERA 880109A – OEM 048 905 105 1 – VW
Included in the set:
- Volvo 740/940 Wasted Spark Ignition Coil Bracket
- 2x Longer M6 Studs for the valve cover
- 2x M6 Flange nut
- 2x M6 Flange bolt
Fits:
- Volvo 740
- Volvo 940
Volvo 240 has not been tested yet but there this plate will probably be against the flange edge of the bulkhead. Assembly:
- Remove the rear two studs from the valve cover.
- Install the longer M6 studs.
- Fit the Volvo 740/940 Wasted Spark Ignition Coil Bracket.
- Tighten the nuts on top so the bolts on the back of the block can go in.
- Again, loosen the nuts slightly.
- Everything can now be gradually tightened so that the valve cover is well pressed on and the plate is tight against the engine.
