With the Volvo 3.0 T6 Turbo Downpipe Flange, you can fabricate your own downpipe!

This laser cut Volvo 3.0 T6 Turbo Downpipe Flange is 10mm thick and made from 304L stainless steel. Thanks to the thickness of 10mm, this is a very robust flange.

LucaCarMods also uses this flange to fabricate the Volvo V70 3.0 T6 3.5″ downpipe.

Tips for welding

Securing material with bolts and nuts

When fabricating exhausts, manifolds and downpipes, it is very important that flanges be secured with bolts and nuts to a thick solid piece of steel or aluminum. The reason is that during welding, heat gets into the material, which can warp the flange. If you weld the flange without tightening it, a small flange can warp 2-4mm and cause exhaust gases to leak. With a large flange such as a manifold flange, this effect of warping can be many times worse.

Even when tightening flanges, they may still warp slightly, however, this is often minimal and a gasket will seal this without any problems.

Welding wire selection

For welding stainless steel, 304, 308, 316 welding wire can be used. We personally recommend 304L or 316L. When welding steel, Er70-S6 is the most commonly used variant.

You may also want to weld stainless steel to Steel, this is no problem at all if the right filler material will be used. For welding stainless steel to Steel, it is best to use 309L.
