Description

Jass Performance Hardtop Brackets For Mazda MX-5 NA NB
Jass hardtop brackets allow you to securely and permanently mount the OEM hardtop. This can reduce body flex, wind noise and squeak and gives a coupe-like feel.

Laser cut from 4mm steel, pre-bent and powder coated, Jass designed these as a direct mount with or without the interior trim. These brackets create a strong metal-to-metal connection between the hardtop and the chassis.

By omitting the OEM clamps, you can also save as much as 2KG in weight. If you install a hardtop, you can remove your softtop to further reduce weight and create more cabin space, ideal for track and race cars.

Please note that these are the front brackets only, side brackets are sold separately (see below).

Installation notes

Jass recommends the following installation procedure for best results

Mount the brackets loosely on the hardtop (3 bolts).
Center the brackets on the frames with the 2 larger bolts
Tighten the 3 bolts of the hardtop
Push the hardtop into place using one of the following techniques: a) A second person pushes the hardtop forward for the front brackets and down for the rear brackets.
b) Use one of the OEM clamps while tightening the bracket on the other side. You may need to adjust the brackets slightly after a short run-in period using this method.

Tighten all the bolts on the brackets.
The hardtop comes into its final position fairly quickly, usually around 20-30 km. Wind noise may require reassembly of the front brackets. If you do this, remove the rear one to allow further adjustment.
Some important things to watch out for before installing the hardtop- Make sure the rear supports, which are attached to the Frankenstein bolts, have the rubber insulation on the bottom. Damaged or missing insulation can cause knocking sounds behind.
– Before installation, grease the hardtop seal with a silicone grease. This significantly reduces the chance of seal squeaking.
