More about Wastegates

A wastegate regulates how much exhaust gas passes the turbo, thus determining the boost pressure. An undersized or incorrectly positioned wastegate can cause boost creep.

Pay attention to the diameter, spring pressure, manifold connection, and the route of the screamer pipe or return to the exhaust. External wastegates offer a lot of control but require proper installation.

For higher power outputs, stable boost is often more important than maximum pressure.
