Mazda MX-5 Frame Rail Repair Panel

Most Mazda MX-5 owners are familiar with rusty or damaged frame rails under the car. For owners of a lowered MX-5, scraping the frame rails will probably even be a daily occurrence...

Given that the Mazda MX-5's frame rails are the lowest point of the car, there is a chance they can get damaged by high speed bumps. Paint damage that will later rust or completely destroyed frame rails are therefore not uncommon.

Repair panels
With our repair panels, you can replace the damaged frame rails to restore strength to the chassis and remove any rust. All drainage holes and mounting points on our Mazda MX-5 frame rail repair panels match those of the original frame rails. This allows you to easily reattach the original fuel lines after the repair.

Our frame rails extend to the point where they transition into 2 layers. Because this point is sometimes subject to rust, the repair panels are slightly longer than necessary on both sides. This can be easily shortened with an angle grinder or saw.

Installation
After the old frame rails have been removed by drilling out all spot welds, the repair panels can be placed. The repair panels are provided with 6mm openings every 4cm, allowing them to be reattached to the Mazda MX-5 with plug welds.

Don't forget to remove the carpet and other flammable materials before welding on the car!

Material
The repair panels are made from 1.5mm CNC cut and bent ZinCor (electrolytically galvanized) sheet metal.
