This spacer is used for the rear mounting of the differential in the Mazda MX-5 NA, NB, and NBFL (1989 to 2005). The original block tends to crack or even break in half after years, especially when the bolts are seized during disassembly. This creates extra tension when removing the differential or the PPF, causing the old block to easily give way.
Why replace
A damaged or broken spacer can cause play in the drivetrain. This is often noticed by vibrations, clunking sounds, or an unsettled feeling during acceleration.
Installation advice
Remove the old spacer and immediately check the bolts for rust or damage. Clean the mounting surface and install the new spacer. Tighten the bolts to the correct torque. After installation, check that there is no more play.
