OEM Mazda MX-5 Crankshaft Pulley Bolt

The OEM Mazda MX-5 crankshaft pulley bolt is an essential component for Mazda MX-5 owners with a "long/big nose" crankshaft. While it is not standard practice to replace this bolt when changing the timing belt, it is certainly advisable to replace an old bolt (that has been tightened multiple times after many timing belt replacements).

When using the existing bolt for installing a press-fit crankshaft pulley, such as our ATI damper, it is wise to use a new bolt to hold everything in place. Don't forget to use blue Loctite and tighten the bolt to a torque of 160nm.

This crankshaft pulley bolt is suitable for Mazda MX-5 models from 1991 to 2005. It is important to note that 1.6 engines can be equipped with either a 'small nose' crankshaft (1990-1991, with four slots on the face of the crankshaft pulley) or a 'big nose' (1991+, where 1991-1993 models have eight slots and 1994-2005 models have no slots). This bolt is only intended for 'big nose' engines and will not fit 'small nose' engines.
