With the Volvo 3.0 T6 Turbo Downpipe Flange you can fabricate a downpipe yourself!

This laser-cut Volvo 3.0 T6 Turbo Downpipe Flange is 10mm thick and made from 304L stainless steel. Thanks to its thickness of no less than 10mm, this is a very robust flange.

LucaCarMods also uses this flange for fabricating the Volvo V70 3.0 T6 3.5" downpipe.

Tips for welding

Securing material with bolts and nuts

When fabricating exhausts, manifolds, and downpipes, it is very important that flanges are secured with bolts and nuts to a thick solid piece of steel or aluminum. The reason for this is that during welding, heat enters the material, which can cause the flange to warp. If you weld the flange without securing it, a small flange can warp 2-4mm and cause exhaust gases to leak. With a large flange such as a manifold flange, this warping effect can be many times worse.

Even when flanges are secured, they may still warp slightly, but this is often minimal and a gasket will seal this problem without issue.

Welding wire choice

For welding stainless steel, 304, 308, 316 welding wire can be used. We recommend 304L or 316L. For welding steel, Er70-S6 is the most commonly used variant.

It may also be that you want to weld stainless steel to steel; this is not a problem if the correct filler material is used. For welding stainless steel to steel, 309L is best used.
